Incursion

A little wattlebird (Anthochaera chrysoptera) repels a Lewin's honeyeater (Meliphaga lewinii) that had the temerity to visit a favoured perch.

Two frames—2/9ths of a second apart—that take the best wattlebird stance and the best honeyeater position to tell the story. Overlaid on blended background textures of: (a) raindrops on a car windscreen (2006); and (b) gum tree bark (2015).
