Black and tan

Turlee Station NSW: We stayed overnight in shearers' quarters at Turlee Station near Lake Mungo. Early next morning, I looked for pictures around the shearing shed. My aimless wandering got the Turlee dogs going. An assortment of red and black kelpies, some young and some grey-muzzled, barked and strained at their chains and had me hesitating to venture closer.

The opportunity to photograph something different to my usual visual diet is always appealing, so I approached the kelpies, trusting that their chains would hold. A young dog was particularly agitated, tracking back and forth at the limit of his tether and cutting arcs in the dust with the chain. I squatted near him, speaking softly. His agitation melted into calm curiosity. My chance arrived. Click!.

The mat on this Tableau™ mount is deep blue grey.
