Bonny Hills NSW: Australian photographer Olive Cotton (1911-2003) made some photographs of flowers from low points of view.
I decided to revisit one of my flower images from 2006 to see if I could give it an antique look. It's not a strict monochrome as Olive Cotton would have produced, and I don't know whether she played with chemical toning of her prints.
Cotton's husband, Max Dupain, produced a famous masculine image called 'Sunbaker'. My image, I'd like to think, is the kind of feminine response that Olive Cotton might have produced. Adding the birds is a way of putting my stamp on it.
