By the time I steadied the lens barrel on the roof of the car, one horse had disappeared over the ridge, and the other was following. ‘’Sheep! Just stop and look back’’, I muttered *futilitously! —willing the horse to follow my script.

I could see it wasn’t going to happen, and fired off a few parting shots as Cheval disappeared, flicking his tail as if to brush me off.
